Exchange programs can provide us youngsters with valuable experience and lasting friendships, but going abroad can be very costly.
Our friend, Jen, has a few fund-raising tips to share. Check them out! #exchange #APYE #fundraising #tips

1. DEFINE YOUR GOAL 🥅
Jen knows it is important to communicate clearly with her potential sponsors what she hopes to gain in the exchange program. Make clear what you want to achieve and let your sponsors know.

2. ASK FOR SMALL AMOUNT 💵
Donors are more likely to give out a small donation than one big chunk of money at a time. Breaking down your required funding amount to smaller bits will help you to raise funds more easily.

3. CROWDFUNDING
Create your profile on popular crowdfunding websites like gofundme.com and explain the value that the program offers and how it will support your professional & personal goals. Remember to share your gofundme.com campaign on social media to gain more traction!

4. APPROACH YOUR LOCAL UNIVERSITY 🏫
Your local university might be willing to help! Ask the exchange program organizer to issue an invitation letter for you and send it to your university. They will be more likely to offer you a hand if you state clearly your goal and the benefits you can offer to the uni.

6. YOUR NETWORK 🌐
Time to pull some strings! Approach people in your network, family, friends, and acquaintances and ask for support. Bear in mind the rule #2, Ask for Small Amount, and you are all set!

7. YOUR ORGANISATION 🏢
Are you volunteering or working for an organization? Jen recommends to find out what you can do for them, book a meeting with your supervisor, and explain your plan to him/her.
